This single soared to be number 1 on the charts in Australia and number 13 in England, making the Easybeats the first Australian rock song to achieve international success. Like so many Australian bands from this time, the members were migrants from Europe and met at a migrant hostel. Stevie Wright went on to have a solo career with a single hit in 1974 called ‘Evie’.
